Deux Ouvrières dans l'Atelier de Couture (Two Seamstresses in the Workroom)

Edouard Vuillard, 1893

This work shows two young women who worked in the artist's mother's business. They have temporarily stopped sewing to look at something, perhaps the pattern they are following. The features of both women are indistinct; Vuillard emphasises rather their utter absorption in their task.
