Cream Ewer and Cover

William Ayrtoun, 1730

Spherical body and moulded foot, the hinged cover has a knob finial. There is a curved S-handle with scroll thumb-piece cast in one piece. The only decoration is a double band of simple chevrons engraved on the cover and body where the two meet. One of five gifts to three museums by H Eric Miller through the Art Fund between 1928 and 1946.
