A coin of great historical significance to the last great war of antiquity between Byzantium and Persia (610-30). There are fewer than 20 remaining known examples, none of which are in public collections. The coin was struck in Jerusalem during the brief siege with ‘year 4’ (of the reign of Heraclius; 610-41) and the mint mark of the city on the reverse.
