Hugh Thomson was born in Coleraine and retained his links with family and friends in the area all his life. His work provides an insight into Victorian times and connects into the Arts and Crafts Revival. Thomson illustrated all the major authors of his time including Dickens, Austen, Goldsmith and Dobson along with works by Shakespeare. This acquisition of 17 artworks includes one of his last (1919) and an example of his experimentation with silhouettes (1917).
