Hugh Thomson, 1876–1910

A collection of 514 watercolours and drawings including original drawings for book illustrations. Among others, Thomson was commissioned to illustrate works by William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen and 10 volumes of the Highways and Byways series (work from the Highway and Byways in North Wales illustrated). Thomson is considered to be one of the top book illustrators of the time.
