Jill Ritblat, a Design Museum Trustee, donated her collection of over 400 fashion items to the Design Museum through the Art Fund. This is the museumÂ’s first significant fashion acquisition and includes items by many of the worldÂ’s leading designers from Chanel, Issey Miyake and Ungaro to Belville Sassoon and Vivienne Westwood covering the period from the 1970s to the 1990s. The collection will be an important resource for the studio of fashion. Items from the collection will be featured in the inaugural display at the new Design Museum being created at the former Commonwealth Institute in Kensington, opening in 2015.
