Collection of 14 coins

Unknown artist, 450 BC–146 AD

A collection of 12 Greek coins, gold, silver and electrum; duplicates from the bequest to the British Museum. The group of coins were passed to the Fitzwilliam and Ashmolean Museums in accordance with the will of Mrs G.E.M. Lewis. She specified the distribution of duplicates from her husband's collection on the advice of Kenneth Jenkins, former Keeper of the Department of Coins and Medals at the British Museum. The donation also includes two American double eagle $20 coins dated 1911 and 1924. Part of a bequest to four museums by Mr Lewis through the Art Fund.
