Art Funded by you
Coast of Brittany I & Coast of Brittany II
John Piper, 1961
These collages were executed at the artist's home, Fawley Bottom near Henley-on-Thames. They are related to watercolours and sketches done on the north coast of Finistere, Brittany, in the summer of 1960. An exhibition of oils and water-colours of Brittany subjects was held at the Bear Lane Gallery, Oxford, in May-June 1961, and the artist paid a second visit to the district that summer.
