Casket, freedom scroll and portrait cameo

Hunt & Roskell, 1904

Casket with chased openwork panel over lapis lazuli. The coats of arms of Robert Durning Holt and of the City of Liverpool, are inset on the back and front of the high lid beneath seated figures with emblems of science, navigation and jurisprudence. An illuminated scroll inscribed James Orr Marples, Illuminator. Exchange, consists of an address. Also a Roman shell cameo circa 1840 of George Holt.
