Bust of James Corry (Jnr)
Thomas Kirk, 1826

Thomas Kirk was the leading Irish sculptor at the beginning of the nineteenth century whose reputation was established by the statue of Nelson in O'Connell Street (now Sackville Street). James Corry was born in Dublin, and lived there while Secretary to the Irish Linen Board from 1796-1828. He wielded considerable power for the benefit of Ireland's major industry, and his many reports give invaluable information on this subject.
