Art Fund Collection of Middle Eastern Photography

These are a further 31 photographs to be purchased as part of the Art Fund Collection of Middle Eastern Photography. This is an Art Fund initiative for the British Museum and V&A to acquire a collection of 20th century and contemporary photography and digital images by artists from the Middle East (whether living in their countries of origin or outside). The Art Fund has given the two museums grants over £150,000 for the collection and additional support for the tour of the collection. 1) Watchtowers, West Bank - 12 prints by Taysir Batniji from Palestine; 2) Six images from the series 'Le retour imaginaire' by Atiq Rahimi from Afghanistan including 'On the threshold of time'; 3) Sufis: The day of al-Ziyara - 11 prints by Issa Tourma from Syria (main illustration); 4) Haloes & Air Mail - 2 prints from the series 'Out of Line' by Jowhara Al Saud from Saudi Arabia.
