Beechwood armchair, japanned in imitation of tortoiseshell with gilded outlining of the back, seat and carved details, and with gilt decoration in the form of trailing plants on the back, seat-rail and legs. Back and seat caned in close mesh. Part of a donation of 16 gifts and 1 bequest to five museums by the Brigadier Clark Fund through the Art Fund between 1936 and 1992.
