Architect's model for Easton Neston, Northamptonshire

Nicholas Hawksmoor, c. 1690

Sir William Fermor first approached Sir Christopher Wren to build a new house at Easton Neston and Hawksmoor visited the site in 1686 when he was Wren's assistant. He was later commissioned to design the house. Easton Neston is an important house in the development of English baroque architecture and it is rare to have such a complete model from this period. The model shows the interior of the house more or less as built, but the exterior was developed on a grander scale.
