A Gateway Behind Trees

Stanislas Lepine, 1860–1892

In the foreground there is a path leading upwards between tall, slender trees, through a stone gateway in the centre. To the right, at the back, we see a house with a red roof among trees under a luminous grey-blue sky with white clouds. Part of nine gifts to six museums by Victor Rienaecker through the Art Fund between 1923 and 1928.
