A Distant View of Stirling
John 'Warwick' Smith, c. 1785

This view looks towards Stirling Castle rock from the south, depicting the windings of the River Forth with sailing boats. The town of Alloa can be seen centre right with the Ochil Hills and the wilds of the Trossachs in the distance. The landscape is heavily wooded and shown in summer with delicately painted trees in full leaf.
