© The artist

Covering the period from 1970s to the present day, the collection includes 28 titles, which present a combination of major and minor modern films and classic titles from a variety of genres (drama, action, yakuza movies, samurai period films, fantasy, animation, science fiction, horror, art). It includes posters of various types/formats, including examples of the rare taketan (vertical 2-sheet) poster that is peculiar to Japanese cinema. The collection covers all main Japanese filmic genres and is well suited to forming the basis of an exhibition on Japanese cinema. Presented by the Art Fund and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
