6,717 photographs of historical monuments in Essex taken for the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments. Churches, secular buildings, interiors and exteriors, prehistoric and later earthworks. Located in the Furniture and Woodwork department library. One of six gifts and eight bequests to three museums by E J Horniman through the Art Fund between 1922 and 1952.
