George Roland Halkett, c. 1883

A collection of 26 preparatory drawings for 'The Elves and the Shoemaker' plus two handwritten lists of illustrations from the Scottish caricaturist, Halkett. George Roland Halkett was editor of the 'Pall Mall Gazette' and the 'Pall Mall Magazine' and was elected President of the Society of Illustrators in 1897. The Courtauld hold a number of watercolour illustrations from the 'The Elves and the Shoemaker' publication.
