130 original etchings and 20 reproductions
Alphonse Legros, 1860–1882

A collection of the early work of M. Alphonse Legros, containing 150 specimens, of which 130 are original works, almost entirely etchings with the addition of a few designs in pencil or wash connected with his etched compositions, while the remaining 20 are reproductions, chiefly photographs of drawings by M. Legros, but including a few etchings done by other artists from his original works. Many etchings are groups of different states of the same plate. Every subject or state included in this set forms an addition to the existing collection in the British Museum.
