It was the hottest night of the year, and for museums, one of the most anticipated. The leading lights of the arts world – from artist Grayson Perry to Tate director Sir Nicholas Serota – gathered at Tate Modern to see who would be crowned Museum of the Year 2015. The heat added to the tension in the Turbine Hall, where representatives from the six shortlisted museums waited to hear the verdict. The finalists were Dunham Massey, IWM London, The MAC, Oxford University of Natural History, HM Tower of London and the Whitworth.

Watch our film to see writer Ben Okri announcing the winner, and Whitworth director Maria Balshaw's triumphant winning speech.
