Video: BP Portrait Award 2014

A beautiful short film about this years's shortlist, as they prepared for the National Portrait Gallery exhibition.

The winner of the BP Portrait Award 2014 was announced earlier this week: the magnificent Man with a Plaid Blanket by German artist Thomas Ganter, who took inspiration from Old Masters for his portrait of a homeless man in Frankfurt.

Watch the film, below, to hear from the three shortlisted artists about their portraits: Ganter, second-prize winner Richard Twose (for his portrait of Jean Woods) and third-prize winner David Kassan (Letter to my Mom).

The BP Portrait Award exhibition, which features 55 outstanding entries from around the world, is at the National Portrait Gallery until 21 September 2014. Free to all.
