Deller's Venice pavilion comes to Bristol

English Magic, an exhibition by Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller, has been brought to Bristol Museum & Art Gallery with help from the Art Fund.
Following a successful run at the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow, the exhibition has travelled to the south-west for the next leg of its tour of the UK.
The tour is supported by the Art Fund, and marks the first time that a Venice Biennale pavilion has been brought back to British shores, giving people a rare opportunity to see a critically acclaimed exhibition by one of the UK's leading artists.
The exhibition explores Deller's interest in English culture: its people, icons, folklore, history and politics. Combining real events from the past and present with Deller's imagined future, it presents a unique view of England that is both critical and celebratory.
Jeremy Deller said: 'It’s fantastic that the show is going to Bristol and it’s been great to use the museum collection to augment the original exhibition and give it a new, local edge'.
