Video: Bettany Hughes goes Beyond El Dorado

The historian and broadcaster presents an introduction to the British Museum's glittering new exhibition, which explores pre-Hispanic Colombian culture.

Beyond El Dorado investigates the myths and metalwork of ancient Colombia, including 200 objects from the Museo del Oro in Bogotá and 100 from the British Museum's own collection.

In our video, historian Bettany Hughes picks apart the 'City of Gold' myth, while exhibition curator Elisenda Vila Llonch explains the symbolic meaning that ancient Colombians placed on gold.
