Museum of the Year judges tour The Beaney

The judging panel for the £100,000 prize visited Canterbury to see the House of Art and Knowledge, which reopened last year following a £14 million restoration.

Judges Bob and Roberta Smith, Sarah Crompton and Chair Stephen Deuchar enjoyed a tour of The Beaney, taking in its displays on Canterbury's explorers, archaeological collections from ancient Egypt and Anglo-Saxon Kent and fragments and roundels of Dutch stained-glass. A highlight was Thomas Sidney Cooper's iconic painting of a large cow, entitled Separated, but not divcorced.
