Describe yourself in three words... Proud, Passionate and Scottish

What is your most treasured possession? Robert Burns personal pocket writing set. It’s portable, the writing set of a working man who was always on the move; it’s scuffed and stained – redolent with life and the work of a poet who wrote in and among the community and landscape he embodied.

Your most famous visitor is... Mohammad Ali

Best cafe creation is... Our WORLD FAMOUS scones, using a recipe handed down to our head cook by her granny, Senga

Any museum pets? “Pussy Nansie” – a stray cat who adopted us and now lives in the gardeners’ bothy

One thing that could make you better is ... winning the Art Fund Prize and investing the money back into Burns’s beloved Alloway community

You have a museum crush on... Jean Armour... and Agnes McLehose... and Highland Mary... and Betty Paton... and Nellie Kirkpatrick... and....

What do you most dislike about your appearance? You don’t get the reputation of being Scotland’s Greatest Lover without taking a lot of care to get your appearance right!

You’re most happy when… reaching out at the end of a night of sangs and clatter, taking a stranger’s hand and having a right guid-willie waught
