There isn’t long to go until the short list announcement for the Art Fund Prize 2011. The final four contenders for the £100,000 accolade of ‘Museum of the Year’ will be announced on Thursday 19 May.

Michael Portillo, Chair of the Judges, will be interviewed live on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row at 7.15pm and will discuss which four museums and galleries have made it to the next stage of the judging process.

In the three days preceding the short list announcement, Front Row will broadcast a series of audio diaries made by artist and Art Fund Prize judge Jeremy Deller. Recorded during his visits to the long listed museums and galleries, the diaries include personal reflections, anecdotes and interviews with museum staff and visitors. They will be broadcast at 7.15pm on Monday 16, Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 May.

Winner announcement
The £100,000 prize will be presented by Michael Portillo on 15 June at the winner ceremony, held this year at Tate Britain.

Public Vote
Once the short list is announced, people will be invited to participate in the Online Poll. People are invited to vote for their favourite short listed museum, tell the judges who they think should win, and enter a draw to win an iPad.

Clore Award for Museum Learning
In tandem with the Art Fund Prize, the short list for the inaugural Clore Award for Museum Learning will also be announced on 19 May. The winner will also be announced on 15 June.
