Brueghel campaign hits £1.5 million mark but funds still needed by Christmas

  • 9 December 2010

We are thrilled to announce that the campaign to save the Brueghel has now reached an encouraging one and a half million pounds after two months of fundraising.

However a further £1.2million is still needed to reach the £2.7million total before Christmas to ensure that the Old Master painting is secured for Nostell Priory in Yorkshire.

Donations have rolled in from all sources, including over £500,000 from members of the public, our own £500,000 grant and £500,000 from trusts and foundations. A match funding initiative through the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2010 reached its target of £20,000 in just two days thanks to the generosity of the public.

The painting is currently on display at the York Art Gallery until Christmas.

You can donate to the appeal online or telephone 0844 415 4004 - or please send cheques, made payable to the Art Fund, to The Art Fund, Freepost SN1457, Halifax Road, MELKSHAM, SN12 7BR.
