Chance to double your donation as Brueghel appeal approaches £1.4 million milestone

  • 6 December 2010

Donations to the Nostell Brueghel appeal are fast approaching £1.4million and over 10,000 people have so far supported the campaign but more funds are needed if we are to reach the deadline to raise £2.7million before Christmas.

However, there is a chance to double public donations made between 6-10 December 2010, for free, through The Big Give website. To encourage a big fundraising push, for five days only, The Procession to Calvary will be part of The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2010 which aims to raise money for hundreds of charitable causes.

Stephen Deuchar, Director of the Art Fund, said: “This remarkable painting has really captured the hearts of many of the UK public, helping us to come a long way in only 2 months. But we’re just over half way with a significant sum still to raise – we urge as many as possible to double their donations through The Big Give and help us secure the painting for Nostell in time for Christmas.”

The Procession to Calvary is on display at the York Art Gallery until Christmas.
