Turner Society endorses Blue Rigi appeal with £725 online donation

  • 25 January 2007

The Turner Society has given a generous donation towards The Art Fund's appeal to help Tate raise funds to buy Turner's The Blue Rigi, by buying enough brushstrokes to spell out its name on the Blue Rigi appeal microsite.

Visitors to the Blue Rigi microsite can make a donation to the Turner appeal by ‘buying a brushstroke’, or pixel, of the online representation of the Blue Rigi for £5. The Turner Society bought 125 squares to spell out its name in brushstrokes - a donation of £725. In a burst of pre-Valentine romance, a couple from London have put their initials up on the site – C + N spent £145 declaring their love online. An impressive £25,000 has been raised so far via the appeal microsite
