David Barrie speaks on BBC Radio 4's Front Row

  • 22 November 2006

David Barrie, Director of The Art Fund, appeared on Front Row to discuss some of the findings from our international comparisons research.

The Art Fund’s research coincides with the fifth anniversary since the introduction of free admission to galleries and museums in the UK, which has been responsible for an average 66% rise in visitor figures.

But, asks presenter John Wilson, has this success been overwhelming for our museums? Has free admission been backed by adequate sustained government funding?

Free admission has been a great victory, argues David Barrie, but has it come at a price?
