Would you like to support an exciting contemporary arts festival in London? Join Art Night 2017 and gain valuable skills as an Art Night Guide.

 

Art Night arts festival transforms London for one unforgettable night on Saturday 1 July 2017, using works of art to explore the history, culture and architecture of unusual and extraordinary locations.

This year, Art Night curator Fatos Üstek teams up with Whitechapel Gallery to present 11 new internationally acclaimed artists’ work in 13 unique locations across the City and East End.

Participating artists include: Charles Avery, Jake & Dinos Chapman, Benedict Drew, Anne Hardy, Lawrence Lek, Melanie Manchot, Lindsay Seers, Do Ho Suh, Güneş Terkol and Ian Whittlesea. 

Your chance to be an Art Night Guide

Art Fund are a supporter of Art Night, and we’re looking for students or recent graduates who are passionate about sharing contemporary art with the world to become volunteer guides. As an Art Night Guide, you’ll receive professional training to help you guide visitors around these exceptional sites, from 6pm-late, teasing out the artistic and historical facts that will make the experience accessible and unforgettable for everyone attending.

We’ll provide refreshments throughout your training and on the night itself, and take care of travel expenses up to £12 per day for those based in London, and up to £30 for those based further afield.

As a token of our thanks, you’ll also receive an Art Night tote bag and copy of the Art Night publication. 

Here’s what you need to know to become an Art Night Guide:

Fatos Üstek and the Art Night team will lead your half-day training with a special guest appearance from at least one Art Night 2017 artist. The training will be on Thursday 1 June 2017 at the Whitechapel Gallery, and you can pick one of two time slots. Please specify your preference in your application:

Morning: 9.30am-12.30pm
Afternoon: 1.30pm-4.30pm
When: Thursday 1 June 2017
Where: Whitechapel Gallery, London

Application checklist:

  • 150 words (max) on why you want to be an Art Night Guide, and what you hope to learn from the experience
  • Confirmation that you can attend a training half-day on Thursday 1 June, and your preferred time slot: morning or afternoon
  • Confirmation that you can attend Art Night on Saturday 1 July from 6pm to late
