The Wolfson Foundation

The Wolfson Foundation first supported the Art Fund in 1977. Since then it has made grants of more than £5m to enable the Art Fund to provide responsive funding to museums and galleries to buy works of great art for the public to enjoy.

The Foundation’s generosity and its faith in the judgement of our expert Trustees have enabled us to act quickly and decisively when museums ask for our help.

The Foundation’s consistent and long-standing commitment to museum collections goes hand in hand with their capital investment in museum gallery spaces.  This holistic approach to supporting both the content and the display of public collections has a major impact on the long-term health of UK museums.
