Your chance to work with artists to bring to life a new visual art and peformance installation at Somerset House in London.

TBC TV have 13 places to fill across three exciting roles and are looking for Student Art Pass members to apply. Each role will support the artists in realising the installation and ensuring a great visiting experience for all.

TBC TV is a new installation bringing together visual art performance, film and theatre. Transforming Somerset House's Lancaster Rooms into a mock TV studio, Somerset House Studios' artists Chloe Lamford, Mel Brimfield and Ewan Jones Morris present a dynamic programme of film screenings by artists including Bedwyr Williams, Sol Calero, Kalup Linzy, Tamy Ben-Tor, Rachel Maclean, Mary Reid Kelley and Andy Holden, and new performances by Mel Brimfield and Tim Price.

If you’re keen to get paid experience in the arts, apply today for one of the following roles. Successful candidates will be paid £10.20 an hour.

Front of house / Invigilator

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the audience throughout their visit
  • Understand the work and answer visitor queries about the project
  • Administer audience tickets for evening performances
  • Provide assistance and information to visitors with access requirements
  • Maintain good levels of housekeeping on site for the duration of the project

Dates required:

  • Two-hour training (w/c 24 September) / four six-hour shifts (w/c 1 October)

Assistant to the artist

Responsibilities:

  • Read and study the play
  • Discuss the interpretation and production concept with the artist
  • Attend production meetings
  • Assist the director as needed, including, but not limited to, sourcing props, assisting with fabrication, sitting in on rehearsals, taking notes and actively watching and listening
  • Communicate regularly with the director regarding the progress of the production

Dates required:

  • Seven hours per day, three days per week (w/c 17 September to 28 September)

AV and lighting assistant

Responsibilities:

  • Rigging and de-rigging audio, lighting, AV and display equipment in accordance with general health and safety regulations
  • Operate technical equipment
  • Undertake general duties under instruction from senior technician and stage manager
  • Assist with inventory storage of equipment

Dates required:

  • Seven hours per day for four days (between 26 September to 6 October)
