We are absolutely thrilled about the excellent start we've made crowdfunding the conservation and redisplay of our magnificent 15th century Flemish altarpiece.
Thank you so much to all of you who have pledged and shared the campaign with friends and family. The tea towels are proving to be a really popular reward – they're inspired by the beautiful tracery on the altarpiece and the front cover of the sale catalogue from December 1859, when John and Joséphine Bowes, our founders, bought the Passion Altarpiece for our collection,
At the £100 level is a stunning handmade oak panel, also inspired by the decorative fretwork on the altarpiece, made of pale new oak with hints of gold tantalisingly just visible through the apertures. The contemporary oak panels are a perfect piece of limited art to display on the wall, made by Rupert McBain, the furniture conservator who will be returning our altarpiece to its former glory.
Please keep pledging and sharing our project to reveal and reunite hidden Renaissance art. We really appreciate your support.
