As we enter the final weeks of the campaign, we’re feeling overwhelmed by the groundswell of support so far. Over 6,000 donors from more than 40 countries have joined our appeal to save this remarkable place – and in response to your amazing efforts, a generous donor has given £200,000, bringing our total to just over £3 million. So we want to say an enormous thank you.
But there’s still a way to go before we reach our £3.5m target. We want to ensure that this generosity and the support of thousands of people is recognised, and that we can secure a creative future for Prospect Cottage, the garden, archive and collection forever. We are so close, and at this crucial stage every donation counts.
As a thank you for your support we have released three new rewards created in response to Prospect Cottage and to Derek Jarman’s legacy. Purchasing one will play a key part in helping us raise the vital final funds needed to meet our goal by 31 March.
First, there’s a special-edition photograph by Magnum photographer Peter Marlow of blue overalls – which Jarman made iconic – drying in the spring wind at Prospect Cottage. Second, a set of porcelain dinner plates designed exclusively for the campaign by artist Clare Twomey, in collaboration with photographer Howard Sooley and designer Sophie Conran for Portmeirion. And third, two places for a hands-on day at Prospect Cottage with gardeners Fergus Garrett and Jonny Bruce, offering a unique opportunity to explore and learn more about the garden, and visit inside the cottage.
As we approach the end of the campaign, please do let friends know about these and the other brilliant rewards available.
We are doing absolutely everything we can to continue to raise awareness and rally as much last-minute support as possible, so please keep spreading the word by sharing artfund.org/prospect and #SaveProspectCottage on social media.
