Ahead of its arrival at the Artists' Village in 2018, we are excited to announce that Physical Energy will be on display in the Annenberg Courtyard at the Royal Academy of Arts from 20 November 2017 - 30 March 2018 - 113 years after it was first displayed in the courtyard in 1904.
We are delighted that during the bicentenary year of the birth of Watts, we are able to display his work in such a significant institution.
Following Physical Energy's exciting journey to London, the sculpture will then begin it’s ascent up the hill, to its permanent home, made possible by all of you who donated to our Art Happens campaign.
Physical Energy is the culmination of Watts’s ambition in the field of public sculpture, embodying his belief that access to great art would bring immense benefits to the country at large. Watts conceived Physical Energy as an allegory of human vitality and humanity’s ceaseless struggle for betterment.
