1: Play crazy golf in the city centre
We can’t remember there ever being a crazy golf course in the heart of York! This seven hole course would be a fun addition to our Artists Garden and the perfect family activity on a summer afternoon.
2: See work by internationally renowned artists
Each of the holes is a unique art work in its own right, designed by seven of the world's most revered contemporary artists including Turner Prize shortlisted Yinka Shonibare and this year's Artes Mundi winner John Akomfrah OBE. Bright, bold and brilliant, the golf holes are also works of incredible sculptural skill and a great introduction to contemporary art.
3: Engage with thought-provoking issues
Beyond their sculptural brilliance, the works consider important cultural subjects such as migration, global warming and globalisation. Each of the holes can be interpreted individually, but played as a round they reflect a world driven by consumer habits and desires.
4: Play golf with artist Doug Fishbone
We have a fantastic range of bespoke rewards for our donors. Most include a free game of golf, and one even offers a round with the installation's inventor, Doug Fishbone.
5: Support York's art scene
This is a unique opportunity to bring innovative and interesting contemporary artwork to York and the North. The work is a touring exhibition by the Nottingham Art Exchange and was first shown at the Venice Biennale – one of the most important events in the arts calendar. Your donation will help us bring brilliant art to a beautiful outdoor space, offering locals and visitors alike a truly unique experience this summer.
