Help Wasps shine a light on great art in the Highlands.

Wasps is a Charity which has been providing workspace to artists in Scotland for over 40 years. We are now home to Scotland’s biggest creative community. Inverness Creative Academy is our most ambitious project for over a decade, providing a new home for art and creativity in the Highlands. We are getting ready to open our doors to the public in 2021.

Your support will help raise £25,768 of the final funding needed to complete Inverness Creative Academy. We need your help to finish the project, light up the stunning assembly hall and give this new creative community the grand entrance it deserves.

Inverness Creative Academy

Once home to Inverness Royal Academy, and later Inverness College, the ‘Midmills’ buildings are iconic buildings in the centre of Inverness, the UK’s most northerly city. Wasps is giving this beautiful Victorian school a new beginning and transforming it into a vibrant creative hub, where artists, creative professionals, and cultural organisations can work together.

This new, inspirational facility will support both established and emerging talent, and make the grand central space accessible to the public for the first time, with permanent exhibition space that is free to visit, and a cafe.

We need your help

Wasps’ buildings are designed to be self-sustaining once up and running, but as a charity we must fundraise to establish new facilities. This help us make rents affordable for creative people and keep certain areas of our buildings open to the public.

We are experts in redeveloping historic buildings for creative use, and transforming this socially and architecturally-important building will ensure that it remains an inspirational community asset for generations to come. Our work on Inverness Creative Academy began in 2015 and we are almost at the end of this exciting journey.

To finish off our beautiful central space we need your help to hang 14 feature globe lights from the double height atrium of the grand assembly hall, and create an inspiring and welcoming atmosphere when we open the hall, café, and permanent exhibition galleries to the public later this year.

With your help we can highlight the Highlands as a place where artists can thrive, and access to arts and culture is on everyone’s doorstep.

Help us light up this show-stopping space and shine a light on great art in the highlands for generations to come.
