This week we were delighted to show representatives of some of the organisations who are supporting our project the restored Samson statue, back now in store at the Collections Centre at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse.
Samson will stay in his specially made crate until he moves into his permanent new home at the Museum of Norwich early in 2019.
As you can see, Samson has been reunited with the figure of Hercules. Unlike Samson, who dates back to the 17th century, Hercules is a later replica, and for now will remain in his painted state. We are planning to continue the research into the early life of the Samson statue, including in-depth research into his first owner Christopher Jay. Meanwhile, rewards for our donors have gone into production, and whether you opted for a set of postcards, a tote bag, or print by Leanda Jaine Illustrations, we will aim to have those shipped to you by the end of June. Keep an eye out for updates on this page.
