Why and Where?

Whilst Folkestone no longer has a formal art school, the town is absolutely brimming with creative energy! We have artists, teachers, facilities and the motivation to make positive changes through creativity! Bob and Roberta Smith wants to highlight this, sending out the rallying message that FOLKESTONE IS AN ART SCHOOL and other towns can be too!

With your help, Bob’s artwork will feature on street banners around Folkestone, declaring loudly and proudly the message that arts education is for everybody, regardless of experience. The banners will be made with banner mesh to protect them against Folkestone’s feisty sea winds and will range from large to enormous!

As visitors arrive or pass through Folkestone Central Station, they will be greeted by a bold and colourful declaration that celebrates Folkestone’s creative energy! Whether visiting for the day or commuting to London, everybody who sees this message will carry it with them, back to their towns and their communities!

On the high and wind-swept eastern side of town, sits Martello Tower Three, one of Folkestone’s best-known landmarks. Built during the Napoleonic Wars, Folkestone’s Martello tower is 450 feet high with solid cannon-resistant walls - what better location is there for Bob’s largest banner celebrating Folkestone?

We have many more locations planned but it can only happen with your support! Please donate and help us celebrate that FOLKESTONE IS AN ART SCHOOL!
