Font making with condiments!

Thanks to your support, plans have been moving forward for our FOLKESTONE IS AN ART SCHOOL visual shout! The team has been working with local authorities and landlords to secure locations and measure up banner sites in prominent spots around Folkestone. Perfect for getting our message out to the masses!

Your support has also made our teacher workshop possible. Led by spoken word artist Emrys Plant, our secondary school teacher workshop explored different experimental and playful ways of generating text. These methods were then used to create text based on the word ‘Folkestone’. To help experiment with new and unexpected materials, the text was created using tomato ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise on Perspex plates. Prints were also made and the group discussed taking the process further into textiles and screen printing.

The teachers have now returned to their classrooms with even more ideas for how their school will respond to Bob and Roberta Smith’s call to action!

Keep your eyes peeled for more updates where we will be sharing the results!
