Laura Eldret's project The Juicers, a collaboration with a Zapotec community in Mexico, was exhibited as a work-in-progress in the first week of fig-2; now, in our final week, you can see the culmination of her project at the ICA Studio until Sunday 20 December.
Donate to fig-2's Art Happens project between now and Sunday, and you will be automatically entered into a free draw to win a signed, numbered, limited-edition sampler (see gallery, below) by Laura Eldret from her project The Juicers. Juice Sampler is a series of three samplers, #Y (yellow), #G (green) and #O (orange) – each is an edition of 175, 15 x 10cm, presented in a ribbon-tied paper folder. We have 25 to give away in total. Colours will be randomly allocated.
The Juicers is a new video work that follows the people of a Zapotec community in Mexico famous for its rug-making traditions. In the first week of fig-2, Eldret displayed a number of rugs made by the people she met, their respective designs reflecting on her experience and functioning as receipts of exchange. Her two-channel video installation focuses on issues of communication, translation, and ways of being together. Read our interview with the artist to find out more.
If you have already donated to fig-2 and would like to be included in the draw, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your full name, address and order reference number. Please download and read the terms and conditions.
