Home of Bronze Age and Neolithic burial mounds, a Roman crossroad, a medieval priory, King James I’s hunting lodge and the enigmatic Royston cave, this small local museum explores over 2,000 years of the history of the town and surrounding villages.
First formed in 1856 as the Royston Institute Museum to house objects donated to raise funds for the building of a Mechanics Institute, the museum moved to its current site in 1984.
