From adverts to animation, picture books to political cartoons and scientific drawings to fashion design – the home for the art of illustration.

The House of Illustration was set up in 2002 by a group of leading UK illustrators. At the helm of the project was Quentin Blake, who also donated more than 4,000 of his own drawings and illustrated books.

Originally exhibitions were organised for existing galleries, but in 2014 House of Illustration opened its own permanent space in King's Cross. Through its diverse programme, the gallery shows work spanning the full spectrum of illustration and representing both established and emerging artists.

Please note: House of Illustration’s building at 2 Granary Square, King’s Cross, is now permanently closed but you can still access their work online and offsite until they are due to reopen in 2022 as the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration in Islington. You can check for updates via Twitter, Instagram or the blog.
