A reimagination of The Foundling Museum's collection, spotlighting motherhood, love, loss, and identity.
This landmark exhibition offers a fresh perspective on the Foundling Museum’s historic collection. The Mother & The Weaver focuses on the unseen mother and explores complex themes around motherhood, childhood, love, loss, and identity. The exhibition displays over 40 works from the Ursula Hauser Collection, all by women artists, and engages with historic objects from the museum’s collection. Artists including Louise Bourgeois, Marlene Dumas, and Maria Lassnig are featured, presenting modern and contemporary pieces in a variety of media. The exhibition prompts reflection on maternal presence, emotions, and societal expectations, inviting visitors to re-evaluate narratives and engage with history anew.
