If Not Now, When? Generations of Women in Sculpture in Britain, 1960 – 2022
Discover the outcomes of a huge research project investigating the changing narratives of female sculptors in Britain, featuring works from Phyllida Barlow, Glenys Barton and Helen Chadwick.
Art historian Griselda Pollock revisits Lorna Green’s 1988 survey of women sculptors in Britain and looks at the continuities and changes in the genre between then and the present day, undertaking a parallel survey in 2022.
The exhibition brings together selected works by some of the 320 participants from both surveys, including Kim Lim, Veronica Ryan and Shelagh Wakeley, looking at their lives, work and social change to gauge development in the field over the last 30 years.
