Empowering Art: Indigenous Creativity and Activism from North America’s Northwest Coast
Showcasing cultural creations from the past and the present, by Indigenous artists from across the Northwest coast of North America, this exhibition displays a vast collection of rarely seen works of art on a scale not seen in this country for almost half a century.
Curated in consultation with Indigenous artists and community leaders from the area, the story of the Northwest American coastline is told through important historical pieces as well as works from renowned artists including Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun, Marianne Nicolson and Susan Point.
The timeline continues into the present day with displays from contemporary artists such as multi-disciplinary artist Morgan Asoyuf of the Eagle Clan, and Coast Salish weaver Danielle Morsette.
The more you see, the more we do.
