Greg Martin, photojournalist, will talk about Penhaul's way of working and how photojournalists go about telling stories
Penlee House's exhibition Harry Penhaul: Life through a Lens took us back to post-war Penwith. How did he choose his subjects? What makes his work so good? And how does this contrast with the work of photojournalists today? Greg Martin, himself a photojournalist, will talk about Penhaul's way of working and how photojournalists go about telling stories today.
About Greg Martin: I worked predominantly as a photographer for over 20 years in Cornwall - originally as a surf photographer and magazine photo editor, and then for 10 years as a press photojournalist. In the end, I was the only full-time staff photojournalist in Cornwall. Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to photograph presidents, prime ministers, princes, and, more importantly, the people of Cornwall.
This engaging talk offers a rare chance to look beyond the images: to understand not just what we see, but how and why those moments were captured — and what it really means to tell a story with a camera.
