Join RAMM as we learn how to draw detailed, freehand portraits of birds in a natural history illustration style!
Join natural history artist James Winrow on this inspirational workshop introducing the techniques and tools he uses to capture the character and delicate beauty of birds.
Drawing has been used for thousands of years to record, observe, celebrate and honour the natural world around us. This bird portrait workshop enables you to experience this ancient tradition using modern materials and techniques.
Working exclusively with graphite, James will show you how to craft a portrait of a bird in a natural history illustration style. Using freehand and scientific illustration techniques, you will learn basic and advanced methods of applying graphite, and go through the process of creating a detailed illustration from start to finish.
You will leave with a beautiful bird portrait and a deeper appreciation and understanding of the depth and richness of the natural world around us – a renewed sense of wonder!
All abilities are welcomed.
