Hamish delves into the leatherwork of the Early Medieval period across Europe.
Hamish Lamley of Pictavia Leather is an expert in Pictish craft culture. A reconstruction specialist in hide tanning and leatherwork, coracle boat builder, and also Pictish tattooing.
Hamish has over a decade of experience in traditional leatherworking, and through years of research and experimental archaeology has worked hard to explore Pictish culture. Hamish has consulted on, and starred in, various television shows to talk about the Picts and showcase Pictish culture, and is currently working on two Pictish film projects.
In the lecture he delves into the leatherwork of the Early Medieval period across Europe, discussing the gap between ancient and modern techniques, and how we connect with it today through reenactment and archaeology.
